Hi Gareth,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and happy early birthday! I leave tomorrow morning for my very own birthday celebration at The Most Magical Place on Earth, and I truly cannot think of a place I’d rather celebrate my big day.
My family has stayed at
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort multiple times – my daughter considers it her “home” at Walt Disney World. My children are both your child's age, and they love this resort. The Lost City of Cibola feature pool is one of our favorite pools anywhere at Walt Disney World, featuring a huge pyramid, gorgeous theming, and a great water slide. The Dig Site is a super-fun playground right next door to the feature pool, and there’s a pool bar where my husband and I can get a frosty drink and a snack while our kids burn off some magical energy. Pepper Market, the resort’s food court, has lots of great kid-friendly options (and a margarita machine), and the Guest rooms have all recently been renovated, are spacious, and have great bathrooms.
Gareth, I had heard the same reports about the “adult” vibe at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, but we have found it a really family-friendly and relaxing place to stay. This resort does have a Convention space, so we have certainly seen convention-goers there, but have never encountered any issues with noise or other grown-up behavior.
One note: if you decide to book a stay at this resort, be sure to inquire about resort refurbishments during your vacation dates. The pool is currently under refurbishment, and I'm not sure when it's planned to reopen.
I hope that helps you as you plan your birthday bash! If you have any further questions, please stop on by again - it's a pleasure to assist you with your big plans.
Wishing you a magical vacation and the happiest birthday,
Robyn
