Hi Monica, If I were to guess, I would assume that you would have a lesser crowd during your August-September dates. The United States will be celebrating Labor Day this year on September 7, so I would expect that the tail end of your trip may be a bit busier than the beginning. If you could even adjust your days by one to August 30 - September 4, I think this would be an ideal time. Many schools (including my children's) have started by this time, so crowd levels tend to drop off significantly at the end of August, until the Labor Day weekend.
During October the International Food and Wine Festival is taking place, which typically draws in larger crowds for the weekends, so that is why I would opt for the earlier, non-weekend dates. I hope this was helpful!
