Hi Lynn,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question!
You’re absolutely right that, in order to enter a Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park or Water Park, you’ll be required to provide
biometric identification (i.e. the scan you’re talking about in your question) or show a photo ID that matches the name identified with your
Theme Park Ticket. This process helps to ensure that you, and only you, have access to the entitlements (
FastPass+ selections, tickets, etc) linked to your MagicBand or card.
I have some good news for you: the entire process takes no more than a few seconds the first time you use your Theme Park Tickets, so you don’t need to set aside extra time in order to complete this procedure. There are times, however, when the biometric scans can be a little… temperamental, so it’s always a good idea to always set aside 10-15 minutes to go through
security and enter the Parks, especially if you’re planning to arrive when a Park opens.
I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming vacation. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
