Do u think that Cont would be a better fit than POR? 4 of us (kids are 9&7), don't need the theming so much but easy transport, nice pool, some room to breathe and flex to come back & relax in afternoon. Is it worth the cost? Do rooms have daybed

    Hi Heather,
While the theming at both the resorts you mentioned is wonderful, I think that any of the resorts on the monorail system will offer that extra perk of accessibility.  I loved being on the monorail, as it was easy to get to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot quickly.  I'm not sure when you are planning on traveling, but just a heads up that the Contemporary is refurbishing their swimming pool at this time, and it is scheduled to re-open in mid March 2009.  There are day beds in all of the monorail resorts.
From any of the monorail resorts, a bus ride will be necessary for Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios though.  So if either of these are parks you plan on spending more of you time in I probably would suggest a resort such as the Yacht or Beach Club.  .
The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts share an AMAZING pool that is one of the favorites among Walt Disney World guests I've talked to, and the nearby Boardwalk is a great place for walking and unwinding.  These resorts are more centralized, you could walk to Epcot in 10 minutes, Hollywood Studios in 25 or so (or take a boat to either park).  While the Yacht and Beach Club resorts do offer rooms with day beds, I would be sure to indicate it on your reservation that you would like one.  This would be considered a request, and as a party of four they will do their best to accommodate, but it's not guaranteed (parties of five would be guaranteed a daybed).
As for cost, there are some great deals out there right now (such as the buy four get three free promotion), which will make the deluxe resorts that much more attractive.  Personally, I would not stay in a deluxe unless I could get our Annual Pass discount or some sort of promotional deal, as they are quite expensive and I've been very happy with the overall value at the Moderate Resorts (Coronado Springs is my favorite).

    I hope this was helpful!
