Hi Robin,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with such a great question, and definitely a question I get asked a lot, and my honest answer is that every age is a great age to visit
Walt Disney World. The magic just changes as children grow.
As a lifelong Disney Parks fan, when I had my two boys I couldn’t wait to experience the magic of the Disney Parks with them! My eldest first visited
Disneyland Paris when he was 2 years old, although COVID restrictions definitely slowed us down! There was nothing quite like seeing his face at his first Character meal, meeting Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Eeyore, and Tigger, with each character making him feel like he was the only child in the room.
My youngest celebrated his first birthday at Walt Disney World Resort. He couldn’t talk yet, but the way his eyes lit up on attractions such as “it’s a small world” and Pirates of the Caribbean made every single minute of the long-haul flight from the UK to Orlando worth it!
My boys have now been to Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World Resort a few times, and most recently,
Disneyland Resort in California. Now they are both old enough to run up to the characters together for a hug, and my eldest is tall enough to ride
Space Mountain, which he loved!
I suppose that is my point. Whatever age children visit, the experience is completely different, and they experience the magic in a whole new way each time. When people have said to me, “Why are you taking a 1-year-old to Disney? You should wait until they remember it,” my answer is always the same. I will remember it all! I will remember their faces, their excitement, and the way they experienced the magic.
One more thing to keep in mind is that there is great value in travelling with a child under 3. They don’t need a ticket to enter the Walt Disney World theme parks, and children under 3 can eat for free at Disney buffet restaurants, and free is definitely my favourite price!
I hope this helps, Robin. Whatever age you choose to take the kiddos, I know your family will make so many memories that you will always remember. If you have any vacation planning questions in the future, please
reach out to me. I’d love to help!
See ya real soon!
Matt
