What are the must do things when coming right before Christmas? Will it be warm enough to swim and will the water parks be open?

    Hi Kristen,

A trip to Walt Disney World during the winter holiday season is so magical. The theme parks and resorts are decorated splendidly for the season.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a fun, after-hours event at Magic Kingdom which requires a separate ticket. It includes wonderful holiday entertainment as well as cookies and hot cocoa. A trip to Epcot is fun during this season, with storytellers from around the world regaling guests in the World Showcase with tales of the season from their countries. At night, the Candlelight Processional at Epcot is an moving retelling of the Christmas story, narrated by different guest celebrities throughout the season. All of the theme parks, including Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom, are decorated beautifully for the season. Another idea is to tour the Walt Disney World resorts. They each decorate uniquely to their theme for the holidays. A fun trip to take is to tour the monorail resorts, heading from Disney's Contemporary Resort to Disney's Polynesian Resort to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa hosts a life-sized gingerbread house! Please do note that all of these holiday celebrations are subject to change.

The average high temperature in Florida in December is 73 degrees Fahrenheit. The pools at Walt Disney World are all heated, so you can swim in December - it just might be a bit chilly when you get out! In the winter months, typically one of the Disney Water Parks will be open at a time while the other is closed. I suggest that you check the hours for Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park as you get closer to your trip to see which will be open while you are there.

I would love to help you plan more Kristen; however, I am limited in the amount of space that I have to answer. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
