Hello there! we are planning our first trip to Disney for May 2011 (with 2 kids 10 and 8) and wow! I don't know where to start!!! We are staying in disney resort and would like some recommendations of where to dine, including character dining please!

    Hi Vicky,

First trips are extra magical!  As for where to start, dining reservations are a great place.  I'm a huge fan of Chef Mickey's for either breakfast or dinner, as, in my opinion, it is the quintessential character meal at Disney.  We also love Cape May Cafe for breakfast at the Beach Club.  Epcot is a short walk from here, so it's a great choice for a day that you are planning to head over to the park.  Donald's Safari Breakfast at Animal Kingdom is very popular and another great choice.  Finally, the Garden Grille offers "Farmer Mickey" and some of the freshest food at Disney.

TRex and Rainforest Cafe (which has two locations, one at Downtown Disney and one at Animal Kingdom) are not character meal locations, but are incredibly well-themed and wonderful spots to enjoy a meal.

Other family favorites for my clan include Whispering Canyons Cafe, 'Ohana and Boma.

    Have a fantastic trip!
