Welcome to planDisney, Andrew. Lightning Lane access has indeed changed slightly recently, so let's talk through how that works.
The new
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass offer a fantastic way to maximise your time in the Parks. Once on US soil, you can use the My Disney Experience App to access the advance purchase of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass or the Lightning Lane Single Pass. As a Disney Resort hotel Guest, you can book for the rest of your stay (up to two weeks). You may purchase for ad-hoc days or the rest of your trip.
One of the great features of the updated Lightning Lane Multi Pass is that you will know what three rides are available and the timings of pre-bookable Lightning Lanes in advance, giving you greater clarity before purchase.
Guests are all in the same boat on the day beyond those three pre-bookable Lightning Lanes. Once they tap into their Lightning Lane, Guests can look to book another on My Disney Experience.
Lightning Lane Single Pass, available for the most popular rides (and not applicable through the Lightning Lane Multi Pass options), works slightly differently as you can buy up to 2 single passes per day, subject to availability.
Pricing for all options varies by day and ride choice but will be clearly displayed in the My Disney Experience App before you make any purchases.
One final nugget of information I particularly like to share with Guests from the UK is that we are lucky enough to enjoy longer stays in the Disney bubble. This gift of time allows us to soak up every moment and truly embrace the enchanting atmosphere. While Lightning Lanes can certainly help shorten wait times, Disney magic is present everywhere, and our family has enjoyed many days in the Parks without using Lightning Lane access.
I hope this information helps, Andrew. I wish you and your family a magical adventure at Walt Disney World. If you have further questions on Lightning Lanes or anything else Walt Disney World, we're always here at
planDisney!
