Hiya Brittany,
Welcome to planDisney! As they say, "there's a great big beautiful tomorrow," and with each new tomorrow, there are always new improvements and policies. I'm not sure what the policy was at the time the original question you were referring to was, but I can share what the current guidelines are.
We often see this question regarding grandparents asking about purchasing Theme Park tickets for their grandchildren at the
Florida resident price. This is allowed, provided that the Mouseketeer is under 18 and a Florida resident accompanies them at the time of activation. If you are trying to purchase a Theme Park ticket for any family member over the age of 18, they would need to provide proof of residency to activate and utilize the Theme Park ticket at the Florida Resident rate. Since you mentioned that your children were adults, they wouldn't be able to take advantage of the Florida resident rate.
I'm sorry I don't have happier news to share with you, Brittany. I hope you enjoy your upcoming January vacation. I really like visiting Walt Disney World Resort in January. The crowds tend to die down after the holidays, but with the
50th Anniversary Celebration still going on, it will still be an extra magical time. Please come back and see us if you need anything else!
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
