Ahoy there, Michael!
Welcome back to planDisney! With your sailing just days away, you can practically hear the ship’s horn chiming a familiar tune and feel that “we’re really doing this” excitement settling in. So let’s chart a smooth course for staying connected while you’re off having more fun than Peter Pan on his first flight to Neverland.
The easiest and most budget-friendly way to stay in touch—with or without an emergency—is through iMessage or WhatsApp, both of which work beautifully on the complimentary onboard Wi-Fi. It’s one of those lesser-known bits of Disney Cruise Line magic, kind of like noticing a Hidden Mickey you swear wasn’t there the last time you walked by. If you’re planning to make phone or video calls, you’ll likely need to purchase
one of the internet packages once you're onboard. You can also
check with your cell provider to see whether they offer a cruise-specific plan. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t… very much like trying to predict whether the Yeti on Expedition Everest will actually move this year.
Now, as someone who’s spent plenty of time at sea, I always appreciate a good backup plan—because even with Wi-Fi, the ocean occasionally decides to channel its inner Tamatoa and keep things “shiny” but unpredictable. If there’s an emergency at home, your family can reach you by calling 1-888-322-8732. They’ll just need your full name, ship, and stateroom number so the Cast Members onboard can track you down faster than Dash running laps around the dinner table. It’s important to note that this number charges per minute, so it’s best saved for true emergencies rather than “What was on the menu for dinner tonight?”
I hope this helps you
feel even more prepared as you head toward your grand adventure—and just a little more confident that even when you’re in the middle of the big blue, you’re never truly out of reach. Whatever seas you sail through this week, may the only unexpected surprises be the kind that show up on your dessert plate.
Sea ya real soon as the tides turn toward thankful hearts and joyful journeys,
Dustin
