Hello there,Really basic question. Do I need to make some type of reservation for each ride for each adult and child at a specific time for each activity? Because of COVID, or because of any other reason?????? I am a grandma and could appreciate the help!

    Hi Joanne,

Welcome to planDisney! First things first, no question is too basic, and I'm so thankful you stopped by. We LOVE helping Guests understand the Disney-planning process and create the same kinds of magical memories we enjoy with our own families, so if there's ever anything you're uncertain about or if you'd just like some advice, you're always welcome!

Now, regarding reservations ahead of time...yes and no. Super helpful, right? Hakuna Matata...no worries, I'll walk you through everything you need to know! Prior to COVID-19, you would buy a ticket, show up at the theme park, and then use the FastPass+ service, which allowed you to bypass the standby lines as long as you went to the attraction within an hour-long window that you had preselected. I'm guessing that's what you're thinking of when you ask about a reservation for the attractions at a specific time. However, once COVID-19 happened, several things changed at Walt Disney World Resort as part of the phased reopening, and the FastPass+ service is not currently available. You won't need to make reservations for any individual attractions, and you'll be able to ride whatever you'd like whenever you'd like!

There is, however, a new reservation that is SUPER important. As soon as you've purchased your theme park tickets, you'll want to make Disney Park Pass reservations. (In fact, I'd recommend checking the availability calendar before you purchase your tickets just to make sure you'll be able to visit as planned.) In order to keep their commitment to the health and safety of all of the Guests and Cast Members, Disney has instituted capacity limitations for each park, and the Disney Park Pass system is how they make sure there is a safe number of people in each park. Without this reservation, you will not be allowed to enter the theme parks. It's all handled digitally, so you'll want to log in to your My Disney Experience account here, select all of the Mouseketeers who will be visiting with you, choose a date and theme park, then click the "Confirm" button to make your reservation. You'll need to follow those steps for each day that you're visiting, and once you've done that, you'll be all set to experience the magic and fun. Disney Park Pass reservations will show up in "My Plans" within your My Disney Experience account, and your spots in the parks will be guaranteed. Hooray!

Thanks again for bringing us your great question, Joanne, and I hope this was helpful. Please let us know if we can help with anything else. I hope you and your grandbabies have a truly magical vacation together!
