Hi there Please can you tell me how long it takes to get from the parking lot at Magic Kingdom and at Animal Kingdom to the entrances? Traveling in September. We have got character dining reservations and want to allow enough time. Thanks!

    Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to the Moms Panel! I am assuming that you plan to drive to the parks in your personal vehicle.

The parking lot at Animal Kingdom is serviced by trams that pick you up at the end of your row and deliver you to the front gate. Usually, though, my family finds it just as fast to walk. Either way, I'd allow about 15 minutes to get from the car to the gate and another 15 or so to get through the gate and to the restaurant. I'm assuming you are eating at Tusker House, which is near the back of the park.

Magic Kingdom parking is a little more complicated. You will need to park your car and catch a tram or walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center. Then you will take the monorail or a ferry boat to the entrance. I would allow at least 45 minutes from car to restaurant at Magic Kingdom.

You might make the trip more quickly than I've estimated at both parks, but it's better to arrive a few minutes early than to be rushed and stressed that you aren't going to make it on time.

If you are staying on Disney property and choose to take the buses, those will drop you very near the front entrance at both parks.

I hope that answers your question. Please let me know if I can be of more help. Enjoy your character meals and your time at Walt Disney World!
