Welcome BACK, Dawn!
Regular outdoor competition venues usually bore me to tEARs. But not the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex as it's where Cheers and Ears combine to create fields of fun!
I can't say for certain whether or not your specific event will require a separate admission to spectate your child's event. Your
Platinum Plus Annual Pass does allow admission to some sporting events. However, many events for minors are organized by third party sporting leagues or competition hosts who set their own admission requirements. In my time on the Disney Parks Moms Panel, I've seen everything from competitions offering two prices of their tickets (like a regular price admission as well as a reduced rate for APs) to events that will honor your Annual Pass, but who have a range of their own ticket packages that include a special welcome reception or evening mixer that is only open to those who purchase the sporting event + Disney Resort Hotel + Disney Theme Park Tickets as a compete package from the event host. So it really depends on the exact event you're attending.
But I'm not out of ideas. You can certainly call the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex who should have better answers regarding your specific event. Their number is (407) 939-1500. You can also call the event organizer to ask how they are charging admission. (I guarantee that you are not the first Disney Family to ask about using your AP for their event.) Lastly, try searching for the event's specific name, or the sport, in the 'Search' field of the main
Disney Parks Moms Panel page. If this is an annual event I guarantee that previous parents have written in wondering the same thing.
We'll See Your Family Real Soon, Dawn!
