Carla from Rio de Janeiro Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hi there! It is my first time visiting Disney World with my family, and in my plans on the app there is a 1-year-old baby. Will I be able to buy genie+ and lightining lanes for the rest of my family excluding the baby?

    Seja bem-vinda ao planDisney, Carla!

It is a pleasure to answer a question from a fellow Brazilian. We are thrilled to be part of your Disney vacation planning adventure!

I am so happy to hear your baby will join you on your Walt Disney World Resort visit. You will be surprised at all the fun that awaits little ones at The Most Magical Place on Earth. I love experiencing the magic through my daughters' eyes, so get ready to make memories you will undoubtedly cherish forever!

Little Mouseketeers under the age of 3 are Mickey's special Guests and, therefore, do not require theme park tickets or theme park reservations. That means you do not have to purchase Disney Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane entry for your baby because they will not have theme park admission. On the date of your visit, the My Disney Experience app will allow you to purchase Disney Genie+ for all other Guests in your party who have valid admission, so you do not have to worry about your baby.

The good news is that your little one will be able to join you as you enjoy all attractions, but they must meet height requirements. If your child is still unable to ride, you can talk to Cast Member at the entrance of participating attractions and request Rider Switch service. Rider Switch is a great service because it allows adult Guests to take turns watching little ones or other Guests who cannot or do not want to experience a particular attraction.

planDisney tip: As the mother of two girls, I highly recommend visiting the Baby Care Centers at all four theme parks. They are the perfect locations to take your child for a diaper change, a break, a snack, and a restroom break. They also have baby items available for purchase if you leave something back at your hotel.

I hope this information is helpful and that you have a magical Disney vacation, Carla. Be sure to stop by planDisney in Portuguese next time for tips and advice in our beautiful language!
