Hey there, Amy! Sending you a warm welcome to planDisney from sunny California! It sounds like you're hoping to add a truly iconic experience to your Disneyland Resort visit in a few months—a tour of Walt Disney’s apartment! That little light always glowing in the window above the Fire Department along Main Street, U.S.A. is such a powerful symbol of Walt's presence and enduring dream, isn't it?
I’m glad you asked about how to visit Walt’s apartment, as it’s such a special place. Unfortunately, none of the current tours include a stop at this iconic location. I realize this might be a bit disappointing, as stepping into that apartment is a wish many of us hold close to our hearts.
There was a previous tour, Walt's Main Street Story, that did include a visit to Walt's apartment. I was fortunate enough to experience it a couple of years ago, and I can honestly describe it as an incredibly moving experience. To stand where Walt stood, to feel the history in those rooms, and to imagine him looking out over his beloved Disneyland—it’s truly a connection to the magic like no other. That particular tour, Walt's Main Street Story, was paused to make way for a brand new tour specifically designed for the
Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration.
But, Amy, my own heart is hoping right along with yours that after the special 70th Celebration, opportunities to visit Walt's cherished apartment (perhaps through the return of Walt's Main Street Story or a similar offering) will become available again, allowing more Guests to share in that unique moment.
The brand new
A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour sounds like an absolutely splendid way to discover the magic of Disneyland's incredible seven-decade journey! A tour focused on celebrating the history of celebrations themselves—how perfectly Disney!
The resort also offers another truly enchanting guided tour that can add such a wonderful layer of storytelling and exclusive moments to your visit! If you love Disney history and unique experiences, the
Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour is an absolute treasure. You get to learn all about Walt’s lifelong passion for trains and how they became such an integral part of Disneyland. Plus, there’s an opportunity (subject to availability and good weather, of course!) to step aboard the historic Lilly Belle Presidential Car. While it’s not Walt’s apartment, being in that beautifully preserved car feels like you’re being whisked back in time, surrounded by Disney legacy. It’s a really special treat for history enthusiasts!
So, while the A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour and Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour might not include stops at Walt Disney’s apartment, they're filled with their own unique insights and magical moments celebrating this incredible resort. And remember, your visit in August places you right in the heart of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration festivities!
I hope this helps you plan for a wonderfully memorable visit, Amy! Whether you choose a guided tour or simply immerse yourself in all the dazzling 70th happenings, may your time at the Happiest Place on Earth be filled with joy and enchantment.
Have a magical day!
Cody
