Hi Davina and welcome back to planDisney!
Well done! I see that you’re continuing your research on the Disney Dining Plan for your upcoming trip and the next stop on your journey has brought you to
Steakhouse 71 at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort. A
prime choice indeed! It would certainly be a mis-
steak not to ask any questions, so let’s
cut the fat and get right to your question!
Steakhouse 71 is one of the best table service restaurants when it comes to getting the most value out of the
Disney Dining Plan. Why’s that? Well for
the dinner menu, all of the steakhouse cuts are available for you to choose as an entrée. But not only that, also included with your entrée is a complimentary side. My favorites are the creamed spinach and the au gratin potatoes. Don’t forget that a table service credit also includes 1 dessert and your choice of beverage.
Davina, when it comes to restrictions while using the Disney Dining Plan, the online menus sometimes may not indicate which entrées are excluded. But don’t fret! Your servers will be knowledgeable on what items are excluded from the Disney Dining Plan. In addition, here are some good rules of thumb to know which entrées may not be included. Typically, some premium or rare items may be excluded (as you may recall
in your last question, we discussed the Wagyu entrée from Frontera Cocina being excluded from the dining plan). Finally, some add-ons or enhancements, such as the snow crab legs for the dinner buffet at
Cape May Café, are excluded from the Dining Plan.
I’ll share one strategy that my family uses when it comes to using the Disney Dining Plan. We generally prefer character meals, buffets, and family-style meals. Character meals are a great way to meet some of our favorite Disney characters without having to wait in any lines. Buffets and family-style meals ensure we get a well-balanced meal and we don’t have to worry about maximizing value by choosing a higher-priced entrée. Some of my favorite 1 table service credit restaurants include
Garden Grill Restaurant at EPCOT and
Tusker House Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Davina, I hope this answer was helpful to you as you continue to plan your upcoming trip. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to
