Hi there! First DCL cruise coming up and I’m traveling with a picky eater. Do you have to go to the MDR every night? I’d like to try them all but what happens if someone traveling with me doesn’t like anything on the menu? Are there simple staples?

    Hi Valerie!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, fellow Texan!  I don’t know about you, but this summer HEAT is getting to me and I could definitely go for some nice sea breezes!  I am so excited for you and the amazing adventure that awaits you onboard your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation!

Boy oh boy do I feel ya on the picky eaters….my youngest son is extremely picky and while I thought (and hoped) it was just a stage, it appears to be sticking around for a lot longer than I had hoped for!  And while I try to get some variety in him at home, I opt not to fight that battle while on vacation!  Thankfully, Disney Cruise Line understands picky eaters and will do everything they can to accommodate the most selective palates and will go above and beyond to ensure Guests enjoy their meals!  That being said, if something on the menu does not look appealing, ask your dining room server for something else.  Additionally, you can always preview the menu and preorder food the night before if necessary – and honestly, that is usually the best way to go, especially if the picky Guest is a child because it will ensure the food is ready for them when you arrive instead of waiting!  But that being said, you will always be able to find roasted chicken, fish, beef, steamed veggies, rice and potatoes on the menu!  Additionally, the kid’s menus are filled with kid-friendly menu items!

While you do not need to go to the main dining room service each night, I always recommend doing so to experience the different restaurants and menus!  But you can always opt for Room Service or quick serve items by the pool!  Sometimes we will even feed our kiddos by the pool and then send them to the Youth Clubs while my husband and I enjoy a more peaceful dinner!

You will definitely not go hungry while onboard your Disney Cruise Line vacation…enjoy yourselves and don’t be hesitant to request something if you don’t see it on the menu!  Oh, and you can’t go wrong with the yummy chocolate chip cookies onboard…and everyone like chocolate chip cookies, right?!?!

Wishing you a magical and memorable vacation,
    Stephanie
