Hi there, Katerina!
Ahoy and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Your
Disney Cruise Line vacation is just around the corner and I am so excited for you! You are going to have the most memorable time aboard the beautiful
Disney Fantasy!
Disney’s Castaway Cay is one of my favorite stops to make when sailing with Captain Mickey! Crystal-clear water, soft beaches AND Characters…what more could you ask for?!?! I always look forward to my relaxing day there and know you will enjoy it, too! Before I start my day of relaxation on the beach with my family, my husband and I always participate in the Castaway Cay 5K! It’s a great way to start the day with a good workout and see the island…and then I don’t feel quite so bad about making myself an ice cream sandwich with the extra-large chocolate chip cookies available at lunch! Registration for the Castaway Cay 5K is only available once you get onboard and can be done at Guest Services. I recommend making a point to register on embarkation day or the following day to ensure your place! The Castaway Cay 5K is officially open to Guests ages 10 and up, but you may want to check onboard to see if they have any leniency with your nine-year old, but from my experience, they are pretty firm with age requirements for certain activities.
Once you’ve completed your run and received your finishers medal (which, by the way, makes a GREAT souvenir) you can either head straight to the beach to claim your spot or you can head back to the ship to meet up with others before heading back out to the beach for the day!
Wishing you a magical and memorable adventure, Katerina! Say hi to Captain Mickey for me!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
