What theme nights can we expect for 8-night cruise on Magic in May in the Caribbean? We have only been on a short cruise before and only had Pirate night. I want to make sure we have all the right Bounds! Thank you!

    Ahoy Alexandra,

Thank you for coming to planDisney with your question! What a wonderful cruise you will be sailing on. Eight nights cruising on the Disney Magic sounds positively, well, magical! You are in for a treat on a longer cruise. You get to relax thoroughly into the rhythm of a Disney cruise.

Like you, I enjoy being sure that I have clothes that reflect each night for dining while on a Disney cruise. I also like to "Disney Bound" - to dress in ways that are evocative of Disney characters but using daily clothing items. It is fun to plan these outfits before sailing!

I called Disney Cruise Line to check, and on your Caribbean cruise, you will have one formal night, one semi-formal night, and one Pirate Night. The rest of the nights will be cruise casual. Pirate Night is an amazing opportunity to dress up like a pirate! I enjoy braiding my hair, throwing on a bandana, and wearing a pirate skirt and long earrings that I bought just for these nights. The formal and semi-formal nights are an opportunity to dress up in your fancier clothes. All of these nights are optional, so don't worry if you or someone in your party prefer to remain cruise casual on any of those nights. If you do choose to dress up, there will be great photo opportunities with thematic backdrops set up by the onboard photographers.

I also like to dress thematically for the rotational dining, and this provides another great opportunity to Disney bound. For example, when you dine at Lumiere's, you could Disney Bound as Belle, or any other character from Beauty and the Beast. I have a Minnie Mouse polka dotted dress that I enjoy wearing to Animator's Palate because it matches well with the ambiance of that location. You can be very creative in what you wear for dining on a Disney cruise!

Do check out the guidelines for packing for a Disney cruise. These will give you some guidelines for costumes, as well as thoughts on other clothing items to pack.

I hope that these thoughts were helpful for you, Alexandra! Feel free to sail on back if you have any further questions while you plan your magical cruise!
