While most Water View rooms (also known as Pool View rooms) are located relatively close to the lobby, it depends on how close you want to be. If you choose a room with a pool view, I would note on your reservation that you would like to be near the lobby, as well.
The Deluxe Studio - Resort View rooms are found throughout the resort. They are not in any particular building or area. If you choose this room type, you'll definitely want to note on your reservation that you want to be close to the lobby and pool. The Studio - Value rooms are predominantly found in the Ostrich and Giraffe Trails. These areas are relatively closer to the lobby, but only the Giraffe Trail is closer to the pool.
Choosing a
room type will only guarantee you that room layout and the specified view, not a location. All of the Jambo House buildings have most or all room types offered at Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you want a particular location, you'll want to note that on your reservation. These are not guaranteed, of course, but I have found that Cast Members do their best and are often accommodating.
