Thanks Whitney for the information regarding the Ft. Wilderness Campground. You had mentioned that it may be cheaper to rent a compact car to get around...but I thought that cars were not allowed in the property??? Am I incorrect on this?

    Vicky:

You are allowed to bring your own car to Ft. Wilderness and park it at your campsite or cabin.  What you're not allowed to do is ride endlessly around the campground gawking at other campsites, simply for safety reasons.

If we drive to the fort or tow our car, we drive from our cabin to the theme parks.  We don't have to use the internal buses nor the ones at the Outpost and save about 30 minutes in transportation time, plus the parking in the parking lots is free for those staying on Disney property.

The exception is Magic Kingdom. I still recommend you take the internal buses to the pier and take the boat over. Still much quicker than driving to the Transportation and Ticket Center and getting on its ferry or riding the monorail.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
