Thanks Kay. It was neat to have you answer my FW question, while you were actually at FW ! what is the best way to get around from FW? Take the Boat, the wdw bus system or drive our truck and park? thx

Hey Lisa! I love being here and answering the Fort questions too! And if I don't have the answer I can certainly get one quickly!

Getting around property is a mixed bag as far as whether you should use your own transportation of the Disney system. If you are wanting to go to the Magic Kingdom it is a definite that you should use the boat! It operates like the buses and leaves every 15-20 minutes from the marina. The larger boat on the left takes you directly to the Magic Kingdom and the smaller boat on the right will get you to the Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge. For the Magic Kingdom you are dropped off immediately in front of the park entrance (even closer then the buses). Do NOT drive to the Magic Kingdom!

During non busy times of the year we often will drive to the other three parks. This past weekend was a holiday weekend and we opted for the buses which was the best decision. Either way is good. If you don't want to walk or take the internal bus to the main bus area at the front of the Fort then drive to save some time. Driving is usually always the quickest way to get someplace but using the bus is a way to not worry about traffic etc. If you need to get to a resort by all means definitely drive.....taking a bus is like a puzzle to go resort to resort. You will have the paper parking pass that you will keep in your truck window and with that you can park at all resorts if there is room. If not then you will have the option to use the valet parking which is a fee but very convenient.

Basically you will likely use all three types of transportation from Fort Wilderness. You can also catch the monorail at the Magic Kingdom or Contemporary and change at the TTC for a ride to Epcot if you choose. Last but not least you have the option for a golf cart rental while you are at Fort Wilderness. It is pricey but also a lot of fun! That gets you around the Fort property only.
