Hi Joyce!
You will have such a wonderful time celebrating a birthday at Walt Disney World. I, recently, just spent my birthday at Walt Disney World and had a blast! We get to spend our son's birthday there next month and I am so excited!
We always love starting our trips out at one of two restaurants. If we are going to be at Downtown Disney on the first day we love eating at Earl of Sandwich! This will take a Quick-Service credit for each person in your party. The sandwiches there are awesome! I highly recommend the Full Montagu!
If we are going to be at the Magic Kingdom on our first evening we love going to
'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Resort. This is such a fun and festive atmosphere and the all you can eat meat is a great added bonus! We love getting our Advance Dining Reservation for the time when Wishes is scheduled to start. It is so cool to watch Wishes while you eat! 'Ohana will take one Table Service credit per person.
For your son's 9th birthday, I would suggest you do a couple of things. First, when you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort I would ask for a birthday pin either at the resort hotel front desk or at Guest Relations at a theme park or Downtown Disney. I would encourage your son to wear this for the entire vacation. He will get so many Happy Birthday greetings and special attention. I would also recommend dining at
Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort on his birthday. He will get a special place mat showing it is his birthday and you can get some great pictures with the Fab Five Characters! Chef Mickey's will also take one Table Service credit per person.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions that I can help with!
Wishing you a magical trip!
Scott
