Hi Kim!
Less than a month until you're right in the heart of the Magic and the Memories!!! Woo-hoo!
My kids LOVE the Mardi Gras atmosphere at Port Orleans French Quarter too, especially the doubloons for wishing in the fountain and the abundance of beads!
Over at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort, you'll find the themeing a little different than that of French Quarter. Riverside has more of a 'rural Louisiana' feel with buildings themed after the cottages of the Bayou in one area and the stately, columned Southern Mansions in another.
That being said, unfortunately you
won't find Mardi Gras coins and beads here ... but PLENTY of other fun, new activities to investigate with your daughter!
Recreation is abundant at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside.
For a small fee, hire the Horse-Drawn Carriage for a 30-minute trip along the scenic Sassagoula River, or rent a Surrey Bike for the family to enjoy a ride along the pathway. Visit the playground and feature pool complete with water slide on Ol' Man Island or one of the five quiet pools around the property.
For something really different for your Princess to try, visit the Fishin' Hole for some old-fashioned cane pole fishing (catch and release of course!). They practically guarantee a catch!
If all else fails and your daughter
really needs to add to her doubloon and bead collection, take a leisurely stroll on down the pathway along the Sassagoula to the neighbouring French Quarter resort and they'll be happy to oblige her in a little wishing and Mardi Gras fun! ;)
Wishing you a simply MAGICAL time on your Walt Disney World vacation Kim!
