Thanks for this great resource! We are planning a trip in Sept '10 w/ 5 adults and kids ages 4 & 2. I'm stuck between the BCV and the WL Villas! We'll want to easily return to resort mid-day to rest. How long from MK to BCV? Other factors to consider?

    Sarah:

A lot of your decision should be made on which parks you will spend most of your time.  In my opinion, there is no closer resort to a park than Beach Club Villas are to the back gate of Epcot.  A 7-minute walk and I'm in my room!  A 15-minute stroll or 20-minute boat ride and you're home from Disney's Hollywood Studios!

However, with two children under 4, Epcot may not even be on your radar screen!  And the boat ride is about the same as the one you'd take from Magic Kingdom to Wilderness Lodge.

I love the setting of Wilderness Lodge, but if you're looking for a DVC property with close access to the Magic Kingdom, consider Bay Lake Towers with it's 5-minute monorail ride from Magic Kingdom.  To get back, just walk the 8-minute route back. Wilderness Lodge requires a bus to access all the other parks. As for Beach Club Villas, you'll take the bus to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

Besides naptime, the pool in warm weather is a factor. I give Beach Club the upper hand with its sandy-bottom pool and faux beach with knee-high water, perfect for youngsters. But you'll find the geyser at Wilderness Lodge and its hotel/room theming more memorable. Additionally, our family loves the variety of restaurants offered near the Boardwalk, not only in the hotels but also at Epcot.

But truly, let your parks days decide.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
