Thanks for all the great information!!! We're trying to decide between Port Orlean's Riverside Resort & Caribbean Beach Resort for our 2009 trip. Can you give me some pros & cons to each resort? Thanks again for all the great information!!

A big part of this decision will depend on what theme best suits your family!

Are you dreaming about white, sandy beaches and palm trees or a rustic, Old South atmosphere?

Let me break it down for you as I was just recently doing the same for my family as we hope to stay at a moderate resort for part of our January vacation. And yes, we were deciding between these two resorts. So...

Both resorts are extremely large requiring long walks from some of the rooms to the resort's amenities. They both offer many bus stops for guests needing to use the WDW transportation system. If you are driving, parking lots are plentiful. Both resorts offer a nice food court as well as a table service restaurant. Both CBR and POR have marinas.

    Caribbean Beach Resort (CBR)
-white sand, hammocks, playgrounds on the beach
-kid meals served in sand pails with shovels
-the #1 plus would be the main pirate-themed pool which is undergoing renovations and re-opens this Fall. It's sure to be delightful for kids of all ages!

This resort has its Check In/Front Desk and Concierge in a building away from the food court and gift shop. However there is an internal bus which would make a stop at the Custom House should your family need to use any of its services.

    Port Orleans Riverside (POR)
    -Southern charm
-all resort amenities in close proximity to each other
    -Sassagoula Riverboat to Downtown Disney
-able to use amenities at its sister resort, Port Orleans French Quarter
-will sleep 5 in the Alligator Bayou rooms (due to small trundle bed)

I find it helpful to look at pictures. See allearsnet.com and wdwinfo.com for photos!
