Hi! Thanks for all the great advice! We are planning one day at Blizzard Beach in April 2010. Is it better to go on a weekday or week-end? How many hours would you plan on spending there with young children (youngest is 3)?

    Hi Jennifer,

Blizzard Beach is a great choice of water park with young children.  Tikes Peak, the "kiddie" area is a "mini version" of the larger park, and is filled with slides, raft rides and splash areas for children up to 48 inches tall.  There are also many shady areas that where you can set up camp for your visit.  My favorite are a set of wooden "cabanas" at the very top of Tikes Peak.  If you'd like to secure one, make your way there as soon as you enter, because they are popular!

In my experience, the water parks are more crowded on the weekends, when local families come to enjoy the day.  A weekday is likely to be less crowded.  However, the most important tip I have for securing a good spot and enjoying moderate crowds is to come as early as possible.  In fact, I suggest being at the turnstiles about 15-20 minutes before opening.

We usually spend about a half day at the water parks.  We usually arrive at opening and head out right after we have lunch at the park.  By that point, my young kids are tired, and ready to head back to our resort for a rest.

    Have a wonderful trip!
