hello! thanks for your amazing advice. can you give me info on the ferry from wilderness lodge to the campground,..set schedule, how late any reasons it wouldnt run? thank you for all your help!

Hi Christina! I have a lot of experience taking the boats from Fort Wilderness to all the other destinations including Wilderness Lodge. We generally spend a couple of months in the Fort every fall with our motor coach.

The smaller boats are the ones that will run between the Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, and Contemporary Resorts. They will run as the buses and depart every 15-20 minutes from the marinas of the three resorts. Because these are the smaller boats they cannot accommodate wheel chairs or strollers unless they are completely folded. They hold about 35 guests so you can see they are quite a bit smaller then the park boats. They begin early in the morning before the park boats and the first one from Fort Wilderness is 6:45 so it would be similar for Wilderness Lodge. They do this to help those with early breakfast dining reservations at the resorts. Generally the last boat is around 11:30pm at night. Look for the blue flag as that will guarantee you are on the right line.

The boats will run clockwise until mid afternoon and then reverse their pattern. There are two boats running the route so your wait is not a long time which is good since there is absolutely no cover when standing out on the long Contemporary marina walkway. There have been times when the boats will not run and it is due to weather. If there is a large fog bank covering the lake they cannot run as well as during heavy wind or really severe storms. Rain will not stop them but be prepared to get wet as they all have open sides.
