Hi Suzy,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Hearing that you’re planning a magical family trip just makes my heart so happy; there really is nothing like traveling to Walt Disney World with those you love best in the world.
My Dad is a professional cane-user in the Walt Disney World theme parks; he can tell you which attractions you can bring your cane with you, where the accessible parking is, and where every bench in all four theme parks is located. I wasn’t sure about the cane with the attached folding chair (though I'll be calling my Dad to tell him these exist), so I contacted a Cast Member in Guest Relations, who assured me that these canes are allowed in the theme parks. I was so glad to hear that!
Suzy, Walt Disney World offers comprehensive
services for Guests with mobility disabilities. I find the website very useful, as it lists attraction accessibility and even information about parking down at the very bottom. I’m also going to encourage you to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 to describe the cane and be absolutely sure it’s permitted, as well as ask any other accessibility questions you might have.
Enjoy every minute of your family vacation this autumn! From classics like
Peter Pan's Flight to the new
Toy Story Land, there is so much to do and see at Walt Disney World this year, and I hope your family makes wonderful memories together. Please come back and see us as you continue to plan; we will be delighted to help!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
