Deirdre, be prepared to feel that wonderful, overwhelmed-with-happy-emotions feeling when you enjoy Epcot's IllumiNations. The dramatic music takes me to a place of joy even after hearing the soaring strains dozens of times.

Go with the 8:15 pm reservation if you want to view the fireworks from the restaurant. Planning around possible delays is too awkward and risky. My family was at Walt Disney World a few days ago during the popular Christmas week and even at restaurants with coveted reservation status such as California Grill we waited no more than ten minutes for our table. Arrive fifteen or so minutes before your reservation time and you should be seated close to 8:15, perhaps 8:30 at the latest. If you want to be finished with dinner and out in the park by show time, pick 6:45.
