Hi again, Donna! Welcome back to planDisney.
You ask a great question! I like how you are looking for ways to get your older grandsons involved and excited about their upcoming Disney Cruise. While there is no activity book geared toward older kids, I have some suggestions for you that I hope are worth your time.
If you'd like to put together your own book, I did just this for a cruise we took last year. I'll be honest, it was a bit of work, but I used a newsletter-type template I found on my computer program and made slight adjustments. I made a page for each day of the cruise and provided a bit of background information about each port of call, as well as space for the kids to write a few of their favorite memories for the day. I had a local office supply store print and bind the book for me.
If you aren't interested in making a book, you can build excitement by encouraging your grandsons to look at the
Port Adventures offered at the ports you will be visiting. They may like to help plan what you will do at each stop along your voyage. If your cruise will be sailing through the Caribbean, it's likely that you will enjoy a
Pirate Night onboard. Your grandsons might enjoy planning pirate outfits for your sailing crew.
Lastly, make sure your grandsons check out information about
Vibe, the space for teens onboard Disney Cruise Line. Encourage them to stop by on the first day of your sailing to meet the counselors and other sailors their age onboard. There are usually some icebreaker-style games on the first evening so that the teens can get to know each other. It's going to be a great time!
Please visit us again if you have more questions, Donna! My pals and I are happy to help.
Happy Planning,
Adrianna
