Hi Texan. I am from Waco and we are planing a trip to Disney. We will be driving this summer and I was wondering what type of things my husband and I can do to get our children excited about Disney as we make our 21 hour drive? Thanks, have a magical day!!

Hello Jessica!   I am always excited hearing from a fellow Texan! It is always very exciting to countdown the days with your children.  I would love to share something special that I always do with my children.  Try to find a Mickey Mouse sticker at any store.  Then purchase some jelly beans.  I always place the sticker at the bottom of a candy jar and then the number of jelly beans that it will take to countdown to the BIG day!  At the start of a new day, one of my boys gets to eat a jelly bean.  Once we reach the last jelly bean-the fun begins! My oldest is 14 years old and he still loves this! Here are just a few ideas that are a big hit with my kids: I always take the trivia cards from our Disney Scene It game.  They are easy to store in the car and the boys just love answering the questions. If you have portable televisions in your car, Disney movies are always a hit.  My boys are always impressed with the classic movies from Disney. I always make sure to stop by The Disney Store and pick up gift cards in increments of $5.  After a couple of hours, we like to present a $5 gift card to each child for just being a great traveler.  They know that they can earn more with great manners and behavior.  By the end of the trip our boys have about $25 that they can use at the parks.  They love talking about what they are going to buy. My little ones think $25 will buy them the world.  My 14 year old is starting to talk about $10 gift cards.  Uh, oh!!  This is a must for my family!  I love the gift cards from The Disney Store because Mickey is on them! I hope you can use some of these ideas as you prepare for your vacation.  Have a safe and wonderful time!  I know new and beautiful memories are waiting for your family.
