Hi Makayla, and welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by with your question. Here at planDisney, we’re a group of real Guests who’ve had plenty of experience visiting
Walt Disney World Resort, and we love sharing helpful tips, personal insights, and answers to help you plan a visit that’s just right for you.
Walt Disney World truly has something for everyone, from the classic attractions and breathtaking nighttime spectaculars to unforgettable dining and immersive resorts. And for me,
EPCOT holds a special place in my heart. It ranks as my second favorite park, just behind Magic Kingdom, mostly because of the nostalgia. But when I’m at EPCOT, you’ll usually find me sampling food and drinks from around the globe, soaring over breathtaking landscapes on Soarin’ Around the World, or jumping on attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure,
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and of course, Test Track.
Test Track has evolved quite a bit over the years, and I’m beyond excited to see its latest version roll out. Beginning July 22, the reimagined Test Track will open with a fresh look inspired by the spirit of innovation and design that’s central to EPCOT’s story. According to the latest updates from the
Disney Parks Blog, the attraction is not only embracing today’s automotive innovation but also giving a respectful nod to the original World of Motion. I think it’s going to be a great blend of the past and future. If you’d like to read more about the updates, you can check out the official announcements on the Disney Parks Blog.
The GM Lounge has been a neat perk over the years for GM employees riding Test Track. As you know, the lounge has been closed during the refurbishment, and I haven’t found any official update on whether there will be changes to access policies once it reopens. However, I would assume that the previous rules are expected to remain in place. That typically means access is reserved for current and retired GM employees. From what I understand, contractors would not be eligible for entry. While I can’t confirm official policy, this seems to be the working expectation as of now, but feel free to ask!
That said, if you're looking for a place to take a break and cool off during your day at EPCOT, there are some wonderful spots around the park to relax. CommuniCore Hall is a new and inviting space with air-conditioned seating. The gardens of the United Kingdom Pavilion offer a peaceful retreat tucked away from the crowds. The lobby of The American Adventure is a great place to sit down, and you might even catch the Voices of Liberty performing. You could also enjoy a quiet moment watching
Impressions de France, or take a slow-moving journey through time on
Spaceship Earth. If you’re traveling with little ones, the
Baby Care Center in the Odyssey Center between Test Track and the Mexico Pavilion is an excellent option for a quiet break.
I hope this helps answer your question, Makayla. Enjoy your time at EPCOT, and every moment you spend exploring the Walt Disney World Resort!
Cheers,
Brent
