I will be tent camping at Fort Wilderness with just myself 2 boys ages 14 and 9 and 2 girls ages 15 and 12. Any suggestions on items that we cant live without? or any quick meal suggestions?

Hi Cheryl! My you are brave....tenting with four children! My husband and I spend a great deal of time in Fort Wilderness and love it but have never camped there. We have grown old and into a motor coach now. Some of the must bring items include matches in water proof container, flashlights, bug spray, screen tent if possible, charcoal, paper towel, coolers, strong sealed food containers, and if in the heat definitely bring a couple of fans. Other items to consider include extension cords, ropes, tools, broom, trash bags, quarters for luandry, laundry powder and water hose. If you want to be an extravagant camper then tote a tv as there is cable hook up along with electricity, picnic tables, and grills. We are big grillers and tailgaters and we have some good ideas for quick dinners. Marinate chicken breasts in italian dressing and then grill....can be eaten as a sandwich in a bun too. Obviously your hotdogs, hamburgers, and brats are good grilled as well. Pancakes and eggs and bacon are all easy to cook on a grill griddle. For a cold lunch or dinner just make some sub sandwiches. You can get many food supplies at the outpost which is better then trying to keep a lot of food cool. When you want a break stop in at Trails End which offers a buffet breakfast and dinner and menu option lunch.
