What does tender meanIng have to do to go ashore

    Welcome aboard, Corrine!

Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel with your question. Cruising with Captain Mickey usually means you get awesome experiences onboard, and on top of that, you get to visit some of the top destinations around the world. The Disney Cruise offers so many new itineraries, that you've got lots to choose from. Some of the most beautiful ports are not able to accommodate the large cruise liners to dock at the port. So, the ship will need to anchor right outside of the port, and small boats, called 'tenders', will be providing transport to guests from the ship to the shore. You will be instructed by cast members on where the exit gangway will be that morning. The tender to the dock will usually take 20-30 guests at a time and it may take 10 minutes or so to travel from the ship to dry land. On your way back to the ship, you will also board a tender at the port that will take you back 'home'. Make sure you allow at least 20-30 minutes each way, just so that you can keep on schedule with all-aboard times in the afternoon.

If you are joining one of the Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures, the tour guides will usually include the extra time needed to board the tender boats. So, as long as you meet with your group at the specific meeting place on the ship, you'll be taken as a group to the shore to enjoy your excursion.

I hope this helps. Please do let us know if you have additional questions that we can help with.

    Have a magical day!
