Christine from NH Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Temp closures.Assume I have a 10-11 window for Pirates. When do I get an experience redemption? People say if you want to ride the ride using lightening lane dont do anything. I've also heard people say you can use the LL and get another one 2.

    Welcome back to planDisney, Christine!

At Disney, every day can feel like an adventure, and it reminds me of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.), a fictional group created by Walt Disney Imagineers and featured in attractions around the world. As they'd probably tell you, on any adventure, there are sometimes bumps along the journey. So let’s figure it out together!

If the attraction for which you have a reservation with Lightning Lane Multi Pass goes down during your return window, you will typically receive a "Select Experience" pass shortly after the ride closes. You will be able to use the Lightning Lane for that ride later that day or choose another attraction’s Lightning Lane. Please note that not every ride in the park will be eligible. When you go to "My Plans" in your My Disney Experience mobile app, you should see this "Multiple Experience" pass. If you click it for more information, you should see a link labeled "Find out where you can go." Once clicked, you'll see a list of attractions where you can use the Lightning Lane with that pass. Please note that you must redeem this by the end of that park day. In a way, it’s a bit like the S.E.A., where when one path is blocked, you chart a new course and keep moving forward.

Typically, for each Lightning Lane Multi Pass you use, you can book another available Lightning Lane. When one of your Lightning Lanes turns into a "Select Experience" pass due to a temporary ride closure, the system treats it as though you’ve already redeemed that Lightning Lane. Because of that, you’re usually able to go ahead and book another Lightning Lane selection right away, even if you haven’t used the "Select Experience" pass yet. Just like the S.E.A.'s adventures, where even when plans shift, the journey continues.

If it's a Lightning Lane Single Pass, you will usually receive an "Experience Redemption" pass that can be used for that attraction later in the day when it is back up and running. If it is down for the rest of the day, you may receive an automatic refund. If not, I recommend speaking with a Cast Member at Guest Relations or a Guest Experience Team member, who can be found under the blue umbrellas throughout the parks. Even the most seasoned explorers, like S.E.A. member Dr. Albert Falls, whose legacy lives on in Jungle Cruise, know that sometimes plans change, and a little guidance gets things back on course.

Now, I can’t end this answer without giving you an extra tip. Once you’ve scanned into an attraction using a Lightning Lane, you don’t have to wait until you’ve ridden the ride to make a new reservation. If there is only one place to scan your Lightning Lane, you’ll be able to book right away. If there are two touchpoints, you can typically book your next Lightning Lane after the second touchpoint. This way, you'll have the head start on many Guests who wait until after they ride to secure their next experience. It’s a strategy S.E.A. member Jock Lindsey, whose Hangar Bar can be found in Disney Springs, would appreciate.

Christine, consider this your unofficial invitation to join the S.E.A., where a little flexibility and a sense of adventure make every journey even more magical. If you have any other questions, I’m here for you

Wishing you an adventure full of discovery,
    Matt
