Welcome, Program Jason!
Are you ready for The Grid? I ask because you’ll visit the Walt Disney World Resort shortly after
TRON Lightcycle / Run opens at Magic Kingdom Park on April 4. I highly recommend rewatching the original TRON and
TRON: Legacy on Disney+ to hype yourselves up before your visit. Before I get too far talking about how excited I am about this attraction, let’s talk about what happens once you purchase your tickets, how to enter the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, and what MagicBands do.
Once you’ve purchased your tickets and made your theme park reservations, you can enter the theme parks by either:
- Adding the complimentary Disney MagicMobile service onto the My Disney Experience app. When you arrive at the park, you can scan your mobile device to enter;
- Purchasing a MagicBand and linking it to your My Disney Experience account using the ID number on the underside of the band. You’ll scan the MagicBand to enter the theme park;
- Picking up a ticket card at the Walt Disney World ticket window by showing your ticket confirmation email, card used to complete your purchase, and photo ID. Once you obtain the ticket, you can get in the queue to scan the ticket card to enter.
I’ve tried all of these options before. Still, I personally enjoy using a
MagicBand (Pro tip: Compare features at the bottom of the page to see if Disney MagicMobile Service, MagicBand, or MagicBand+ is the right fit for your travel needs). They come in fun colors and designs for kids to pick from, and they are hands-free. My favorite features include scanning your MagicBand at Lightning Lane entrances and linking Disney PhotoPass photos.
Now let’s talk about
Disney Genie+ Service, Disney’s new paid Fastpass system that allows you to book the faster
Lightning Lane entrance in advance for popular rides at each theme park. Disney Genie+ includes almost all major attractions except for the most popular ride at each park, which you can purchase with a separate “á la carte” price, called an Individual Lightning Lane. I suggest looking at the Lightning Lane entrances offered through Disney Genie+ Service for each theme park to see if it will make sense for your vacation. Let me know if you have any other questions.
See you on the grid!
