Hello! Can you tell me which side of the ship will face shore on the Disney Dream 5-day Bahamas cruise, Sept 22-27?

    Ahoy there, Sandra!

Welcome back to planDisney! The Dream holds a special place in my heart—our very first Disney cruise was aboard this stunning ship, and I know you and your crew are in for a sailing filled with magic, memories, and Mickey bars! With both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay on your itinerary, you’re about to double up on island fun in true Disney style.

Now, let’s get to the question at hand—which side of the ship will face the shore? I wish I had a crystal ball (or maybe just Maui’s magical fish hook), but there’s only one port where I can give you a “for sure” answer—and that’s Castaway Cay. Disney’s ships currently back into the dock at Castaway Cay, which means the starboard side of the ship will give you those dreamy island views. If you're hoping to sip your morning coffee while watching the palm trees sway, starboard is your best bet for that port day.

As for Lookout Cay, it's more of a “flip-a-coin” situation. We've seen the ships dock facing both directions depending on the schedule, weather, or docking logistics. If I were to guess for your specific itinerary—coming from Nassau the day before—I’d bet my Dole Whip that the port side of the ship will face the island. But again, that’s not guaranteed, just a friendly guess based on past patterns.

And Nassau? That one’s even more unpredictable. The ship has docked both nose-in and stern-first at various piers in Nassau, and depending on your assignment, either side of the ship could be facing the harbor. It’s a little like playing musical chairs—but with cruise ships!

If you’re in a verandah or oceanview stateroom, any side of the ship can offer a magical view at some point during your sailing. But one of my favorite ways to soak in the scenery is to grab a latte from Cove Café and enjoy the views from Deck 11 or 12. There’s something extra magical about a quiet moment with an ocean breeze and a warm coffee in hand!

I hope this helps as you start counting down the days to your Bahamian adventure! No matter which way the Dream is docked, the memories you’ll make onboard and ashore will be unforgettable—from sun-soaked strolls on Castaway Cay to the colorful charm of Lookout Cay.

Sea ya real soon with a July full of fireworks at sea and memories that sparkle like pixie dust,
