Hi Lee-Ann,
Welcome to planDisney! You must be getting so excited that your Walt Disney World vacation is a short month away.
As you know, the theme parks of Walt Disney World are open 365 days a year, so it is sometimes necessary for an attraction to be closed temporarily for updates and refurbishment. Luckily for you, the major re-imagining of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom will be ready to welcome you in May.
The new Buzz Lightyear is open now, and
Big Thunder Mountain reopens on May 3.
The only other rides or attractions currently listed as under refurbishment during your visit are
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, which is getting an update with The Muppets and should reopen later this summer, and Conservation Station at Animal Kingdom, which will welcome Bluey and Bingo in a few weeks.
If there are other refurbishments announced before your visit next month, you can see them in the
"Closed for Refurbishment" section of the daily calendar for each of the theme parks.
For water park fun, Blizzard Beach is now open through summer, and
Typhoon Lagoon resumes daily operations on May 12, just in time to welcome you and your family.
I hope that helps with your planning, Lee-Ann. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Enjoy every magical moment,
Wilma
