Hi, Ellen-Marie! Welcome to the
Disney Parks Moms Panel! It's so great to find your question! I just came back from a stay at
Disney's Pop Century Resort! I had not stayed in this
Disney Resort Hotel in a long time and I was really pleased to see all the improvements they have made (in addition to all the great decor and lively ambiance they always had)!
My mom loves all the retro decoration and theming in general. She relived so many great memories as she listened to music by The Beatles and Micheal Jackson in the background. I loved to see giant figures of Lady and The Trump as well as those of Mowgli and Baloo decorating the different buildings; it reminded me of my childhood! If you would prefer to stay close to dining, the lobby, and transportation, I suggest you book a preferred room (if you get one with pool view, that would be even better) and, in that way, you will be steps away from everything you will possibly need. Guest rooms went under refurbishment in 2017 and they now have a great modern minimalist feel.
It's important to mention that beginning winter 2020, the Hippy Dippy Pool will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, guests will still be able to make a splash at Bowling Pool and Computer Pool. Petals Pool Bar will also be closed and Movies Under the Stars will be offered in an alternate location. There will be some construction noise while this refurbishment happens, but the noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 AM.
In regards to
dining, something I found to be extremely convenient was the hours of operation of the food court, opening at 6:00 am and closing at midnight. We were able to warm up some milk (by using some of their super convenient microwaves) for my dad before going to bed. It felt it was much earlier due to its lively ambiance and open shops so late at night!
However, the best aspect of all was
resort transportation. We didn't have to wait long at all because buses came within minutes (much less than the usual 20 minutes)! After fireworks at
Magic Kingdom one night, we were gladly surprised to see that two buses came to pick us up at the same time! It was such a breeze!
All in all, we had a great stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort and my mom was able to relive her favorite decades, the 60's, 70's and 80's!
Ellen-Marie, I hope this information is helpful. Please come back with more questions; we love to help!
Wishing you a memorable vacation at the
Walt Disney World Resort!
