Can you tell me how to do pin trading? What’s currently available after the reopening?

    Welcome back, Kelly!

I am thrilled to hear that you are interested in pin trading! I’ve been trading, collecting, and admiring my Disney pins since I was in kindergarten! You are about to embark on the wondrous, lifelong journey of pin trading at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

First things first: You’re going to need some pins! You can visit shopDisney.com to get the official Mickey Mouse and Friends Trading Starter Set before your vacation, visit the gift shop of your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, or any of the gift shops in the theme parks or Disney Springs to start your magical adventure with a few pins and a lanyard! (I have a special backpack that I use for my pins! You’re not required to use a lanyard! Some people have a pin trading hat, vest, Mickey Ears, or bag! Let your imagination run wild and have fun!) I have also had good luck with purchasing used bulk Disney pins on eBay that are perfect for trading! Just remember that you must trade official Walt Disney pins within Disney properties, so be sure they’re the real deal if you purchase them second-hand!

Pin trading looks a little different than it did before the Phased Reopening, but it is still just as fun! Instead of the close contact, direct from Cast Member to Guest trading that avid pin traders were used to, Walt Disney World has come up with a fantastic way to promote health and wellness while still facilitating fun! When you’re ready to trade, find a pin trading location (a few are listed below), take your time looking over the options on the pin trading board, point to the pin or pins for which you’d like to trade (currently a limit of two pins per person), drop the pins your trading (one for one) into a small box near the board to be sanitized (be sure to keep your pin back), then wear the pins you’ve just received and repeat!

There will be signs leading you to pin trading locations at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks! But here are a few locations that are currently available that you can visit when you’re ready to trade:

    -Emporium (Magic Kingdom Park)
    -Fantasy Faire (Magic Kingdom Park)
    -Memento Mori (Magic Kingdom Park)
-Primeval Whirl (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park)
-Discovery Trading Company (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park)
    -Celebrity 5 & 10 (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
-Pin Traders - Camera Center (EPCOT)
    -Disney’s Pin Traders (Disney Springs)
-Resort gift shops (typically available at the cash register)

The nature and locations of pin trading is subject to change, so be sure to keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for up-to-date information surrounding this activity! Also, feel free to ask any Cast Members about pin trading locations! They’ll be happy to point you in the right direction... They may even have a secret trading location up their sleeves!

I am sending all of the pixie dust and happy thoughts to you, Kelly! I hope you’re able to trade for the pins of your dreams! If you have any additional questions, we’d love to hear from you again at planDisney!

    Happy trading!
