Can you tell me what the opening ceremonies are at MK and how long they last? We have an ADR at CRT at 9:15 on 8/31,and we're supposed to check in at 9.I'm wondering if we should a.squeeze in an opening ceremony, b.take a 3 min. ride,or c. just arr on time

    Lydia:

In my experience, the Opening Ceremonies—or what many call "rope drop"—at the Magic Kingdom begin about 15 minutes before that park opens. (The park opens at 9:00 a.m. on 8/31.)  It's one of the few times you'll see so many Disney characters all together!  On my last visit, not only did Mickey and Minnie and the whole gang arrive on the train, but also Mary Poppins and other characters!

Honestly, I really doubt that you could do both the rope drop and get to Crystal Palace so quickly, because the crowd is extremely thick at the turnstiles.  However, if you got to the park, say, at 8:00 to get through the turnstiles and off to one of the sides and ahead of most of the crowd, you MIGHT be able to work your way through the crowd toward the restaurant and arrive at 9:05, provided everyone in your party knew you were on a mission!  (But please remember to be polite and courteous to those around you as you rush down Main Street for breakfast!)

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
