Can you tell me how the new rider switch program is going to work? I have been told that they are only giving the second rider between 15-60min to utilize the rider switch after they have scanned it to the band. What if it takes 90min to get thru the ride

    Welcome, Susan!

With three kiddos and a bit of an age gap between them, I can't tell you how many times we've utilized the Rider Switch Service at Walt Disney World Resort. It is such a handy feature to ensure that Guests with little ones are still able to ride their favorite attractions without having to wait in the regular line twice.

Early last week the Rider Switch Service became electronic in order to integrate it your My Disney Experience account. I adore the idea of having it conveniently located with the rest of our vacation details, but know that this causes a few questions or concerns to those planning their next Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Have no worries, you've come to the right place and we are happy to help.

Requesting a Rider Switch Pass is much the same as before. Your entire party will need to see the Cast Member at the front of the participating attraction. The Cast Member will then issue a Rider Switch Pass to the Guest(s) who will be waiting. Once the first Guest(s) return from riding the attraction, the waiting party will then switch and use their Rider Switch Pass to board the attraction without having to wait in the regular line. Your Rider Switch Pass return window will be available for one hour and will begin at the current stand-by wait time minus 10 minutes. For example, if the current stand-by wait time for the attraction is 65 minutes, the return window will begin in 55 minutes and last for one hour.

    Additional tips:

-You can only have one Rider Switch Pass issued at a time.
-Please note that only 3 Guests are allowed per Rider Switch Pass.

Thank you so much for your great question, Susan. I hope I've helped clear up some of the confusion with this new process, but please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Magical Wishes,

    Lauren
