Hello there, Leigh!
"You and me, we're in a club now," the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, MagicBand-loving club that is! Though I spend most of my time enjoying a view of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park, I take the opportunity to visit Sleeping Beauty Castle at
Disneyland Park as often as possible.
You'll be glad to know that
MagicBand+ can be used to access Disney Parks on both coasts. You'll need to take a few steps, but as Mary Poppins said, "In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun." Let's get started!
First, I want to mention that only MagicBand+ can be used at
Disneyland Resort. If you have an older generation of MagicBand they, unfortunately, won't be compatible; so save the room in your luggage and leave them at home once you're ready to visit the West Coast. Second, while MagicBand+ can be used for linked admission, access to attraction
Lightning Lanes, and PhotoPass photos, you won't be able to use them to unlock your resort door or for merchandise purchases at this time.
If your MagicBand+ is already linked to your My Disney Experience Account you can link it for use at Disneyland Resort with a few simple steps:
- Do NOT deactivate the band from your My Disney Experience App
- Instead, in your phone's Bluetooth settings, locate your linked MagicBand+ from the list of devices and click the info icon to "Forget This Device"
- Download the Disneyland Resort Mobile App
- Click the three horizontal lines at the bottom right of the screen and select "MagicBand+"
- Select the "+" at the top of the screen to pair your MagicBand+
- You can type in the ID on the back of your band, or use the blue "Open Scanner to Link: bar at the bottom of the screen
- Follow the on-screen instructions, and hold your band at the back upper right corner of your phone to begin pairing (be sure your MagicBand+ is charged)
Your band should now be successfully linked to both mobile apps. If you need additional help
online support is also available. Once you are back on the East Coast simply follow the steps above to forget the device in your Bluetooth settings and then open your My Disney Experience App to pair it for your next trip to the Florida parks.
I hope this helps get you tech ready for your March trip. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to come back and see us again here at planDisney.
Have a magical day!
Amy
