Welcome to planDisney, Sandra!
With your Walt Disney World vacation coming up very soon, it’s a good thing that you’re thinking about how you’ll get around the resort. Personally, I love to use the
Disney Resort transportation system because for me, it’s not a vacation if I have to drive. I especially love to stay at resorts that allow access to
Disney’s Skyliner because my kids love it. They feel like it’s an attraction in and of itself! However, I can definitely relate to wanting the freedom to come and go as you please, and that is definitely easier to do (and faster, à la Lightning McQueen) with a rental car. Luckily, you won’t need to make a pit stop in Radiator Springs to pick up a set of wheels. Renting a car at Disney World is pretty simple if you take advantage of the on-site
Car Care Center. This location allows guests to rent a vehicle through Disney’s preferred car rental partners: Enterprise, Alamo, or National.
If you’re interested in renting a car, all you need to do is
visit the website and book your vehicle online or call the number displayed. You will also need to call to book a separate appointment to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service from select Disney World resort hotels to the Car Care Center to pick up your rental. Guests must book their shuttle pickup at least 2 hours prior to their vehicle pickup time and must be waiting at the pickup location on time.
Sandra, you can book your rental as early as when your visit has been booked or as last-minute as while you’re on your trip. Just remember that the earlier you book your rental, the wider the vehicle selection will be. If you wait, there’s a chance that there could be slim pickings available to you, especially during the holidays and peak seasons.
I hope this information is helpful as you get your vacation plans in gear. If you have any additional questions, please come visit us at planDisney again. Until then,
KA-CHOW!
