How can I tell if my Disney band+ is charged? How can I link it to my reservation?

Hey there, Dorothy! Welcome to planDisney.  Thank you for swinging by with your planning questions! From one Coloradan to another, I am happy to help you get your MagicBand+ ready for the fun.

First things first, it is important to know that only MagicBand+ works at the Disneyland Resort. The original MagicBands that are not rechargeable are not compatible in California, so you are on the right track with MagicBand+.

Here’s how to tell if your MagicBand+ is charged. To check the charge, press the button on the back of your MagicBand+ one time. The lights will tell you what you need to know.

A flashing green light means you are good to go.
A flashing yellow light means the battery is getting low and should be charged soon.
A red light or no light at all means it is time to plug it in.

You can also check the battery level in the Disneyland app. Open the app, tap the menu icon (☰), scroll down to Account, select MagicBand+, and choose your band. If it is Bluetooth paired to your phone, the battery status will appear right there.

Dorothy, checking if your MagicBand+ is connected to your reservation, and linking your MagicBand+ to your tickets if not, is as simple as 1, 2, 3 in the Disneyland app. Open the Disneyland app and make sure you are signed in. Tap the menu icon (☰), then scroll down to Account, and select MagicBand+. From there, check if you can see your band, if not, tap Add MagicBand+ and follow the prompts to pair your band to your phone. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and your band is nearby.

Once the band is paired, the app will prompt you to assign it to a ticket. Select the ticket or Magic Key pass you would like to attach to that MagicBand+. This step is what officially links the band to your park entry. After it is assigned, you are all set to use your MagicBand+ for park entry, Lightning Lane access, PhotoPass linking, and those fun interactive moments throughout the parks.

A quick tip from one Disney friend to another. Charge your MagicBand+ overnight before your park day so you can focus on churros, attractions, and making memories instead of battery levels. Each MagicBand+ comes with a charger that snaps to the back of your band for easy charging. If your charger has bounded away like Tigger, no worries!  A new charger can be purchased online at the Disney Store, or at numerous shops throughout the parks.

Dorothy, I hope this helps you feel confident and ready for your visit. Wishing you a smooth setup and a magical day at Disneyland Resort.

Stop by and see me if you have any additional planning questions!
