Can you tell me what the difference between the standard, preferred and premium campsites at Fort Wilderness campground is?

    Hiya Maryann,

Welcome back to planDisney! We are so excited that you are here and that you continue coming back to visit us for help planning your vacations. I see that you and my pal Scott were chatting about the best campsites based on what you want to be closest to, so I’m happy to pick up the baton and talk about types of campsites!

As you pointed out, Maryann, there are three types of campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort: Premium Campsites, Full Hook-Up Campsites (which I think you are referring to as standard), and Preferred Campsites. I spoke to a Cast Member, and they said that the Full Hook-Up Campsites are the basic RV/Camper sites and are located nearest to the Outpost Depot (also known as the parking lot). Preferred Campsites are those located closest to the Settlement Depot, which, as Scott mentioned, is where you will find the restaurants like Hoop Dee Doo at Pioneer Hall, the beach, and the water taxi boat launch. So if you are thinking of loops, then preferred campsites are typically in loops 100, 200, and 400. Premium Campsites are larger than both the Preferred and Full Hook-Up. They are also designed for larger RVs and feature enhanced cooking areas and patios. They are also more centrally located, typically closest to loops 900 and 1000.

I hope this was helpful, Maryann. Before I let you go, I’m sure your itinerary is pretty full, but if you get a chance, be sure to save time for Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. I always love roasting marshmallows, and getting a chance to sing along with Chip ‘N’ Dale is icing on the cake. You can find out specific times and all the other offerings at the resort in the activities calendar, so make sure to take a peek. If there is anything else you need, know that you always have friends here at planDisney!

    Happy Planning,
