Can you tell me the difference between Keys to the Kingdom tour and the 3 hour behind the scenes tour at the Magic Kingdom? Does Epcot have a behind the scenes tour only a couple hours long .

    Hi Helen!

Adding a tour to my Walt Disney World vacation makes our time in the "world" even more special!  I love learning all about Walt Disney, his vision for the parks and seeing backstage (or behind-the-scenes) elements at Walt Disney World.

Disney's Keys to the Kingdom is one of my favorite tours.  I have taken this one a few times and the first time was with my husband when we were still dating.  This 5 hour walking tour really dives deep into the history of Magic Kingdom Park with lots of secrets revealed and takes you to little known hidden hideaways.  My favorite part of this tour is seeing the utilidors, the underground tunnel system you'd never know was just beneath your feet as you're walking around the park.  I took the Backstage Magic 7 hour tour last year and a parade had just ended when we were touring the utilidors, so we got to see lots of character performers roaming around.  For some, it might dull the magic a little seeing this side of Walt Disney World, but for me it makes it more fascinating.  This is something to consider when choosing a tour that heads "backstage".

Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour will also take you behind-the-scenes at Walt Disney World, but the focus is more on the history of Walt Disney himself and how certain attractions at Magic Kingdom came to be.  This tour is rich in history and is really interesting.  The Walt Disney World website says, "it's a lighter alternative of the more in-depth Keys to the Kingdom tour", which I completely agree with.

Epcot offers several really cool tours.  The first is the Behind the Seeds tour, which lasts about an hour.  This educational tour will take you behind-the-scenes of the Living with the Land attraction where you'll visit the greenhouses and fish farms inside the attraction and learn about some really cool techniques Walt Disney World uses to grow fruits and vegetables.  My kids especially enjoy this tour because they think it's cool that we are inside the greenhouses that we usually see from the boat.

UnDISCOVERed Future World and World Showcase: DestiNations Uncovered are two other Epcot tours that last about 4 hour hours each.  I have not experienced either of these tours, but I have heard they are great for a more in-depth view and understanding of World Showcase and Future World and they are certainly on my Disney to-do list!

Each tour is offered on different days of the week and at different times.  If you are interested in more information or if you'd like to check availability or possibly book a tour, please call (407) 939-8687.

Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
    Leslie
