Hello there Elly, welcome to planDisney!
There is not an exact science to predict how crowded the theme parks will be on a given date, but I can share a few tips!
The first is to avoid the major holiday weeks such as Spring Break, Winter Break in late December/early January, and Thanksgiving week. Since so many Guests will either be off of school or work, it brings heavier crowds to the
Disneyland Resort. Even though I cannot see which date you were thinking of purchasing your theme park tickets for, if the ticket price is on the higher side, then it is usually an indication of a historically higher crowd level.
My next tip to try to visit and plan your
theme park tickets and
theme park reservations during the week instead of weekends. I always try to select a Tuesday and a Wednesday if I can, since the crowds usually are lower during the week as opposed to a Saturday or Sunday. You may even find better hotel prices as well during the week!
The final tip I will share is to get to the parks early, even before they are scheduled to open! Even when the parks are at peak crowd levels, we aim to get to the security gates 30 minutes before they are scheduled to open. Once we get through security, we head straight to the gates so we will be amongst the first people to enter. The crowds are almost always lower in the morning, and while other Guests are sleeping in, you can be enjoying some of your favorite
attractions! We find that we can get so much accomplished in those first few hours.
I hope this information is helpful for your trip planning, Elly! Don't hesitate to
come back to planDisney and ask me any other questions as your vacation comes together.
Have a magical day!
Melissa
