Do you tell the CM at the entrance of a ride that you wish to use rider switch or stand in line and tell them before boarding? I can't imagine holding/chasing my 2yo w/ no stroller through the queues only for her to not be able to ride anyway!

    Hi Holly!

The Rider Switch pass is a great benefit for parents of young children to experience an attraction without having both parents wait in a long line with a bored toddler.

If your child doesn't meet the height requirements of the ride, and if the attraction offers Rider Switch (this isn't available at all attractions), then you can easily obtain a Rider Switch pass by doing the following:

First, check in with the Cast Member standing at the front of the attraction. You and the other adult in your party will need to both be present, along with your two-year old.

Let the Cast Member know that you would like a Rider Switch pass and he/she will give it to the party who will ride second. The first adult will wait in the full line, then when he/she gets off the ride, the other adult will present the Rider Switch Pass to the Cast Member and enter the shorter queue, usually through the FastPass line.

This will help ensure you and the other adult can both enjoy the attraction and your little one won't have to wait in a long line, only to not be able to ride.

Each of the parks has select attractions that offer Rider Switch, including Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom, Soarin' at Epcot, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios and DINOSAUR at Animal Kingdom.

I hope you have a magical vacation!
